So I have now officially been in San Antonio for a month now (well technically Saturday would have been my month anniversary but its just a technicality)!! So since I have been here for a month now and have neglected in writing a blog to tell everyone about everything that is going on here, I must write one now to both celebrate the anniversary and do some making up in the blog department!
Let's see where to begin...Well when I arrive one dark and rainy evening my housemates greeted me at the doorstep where I was soaking wet from the pouring rain...ok thats not entirely true but my housemates (Kelsey, Didi, Kathryn, and Bethany) did meet me at the door after I knocked! And all I could here is YAY!! She's HERE!!
I was super excited about meeting my new housemates but also terrified because they were screaming and I thought I was going to get trampled upon entering the house. Well needless to say I was not trampled but welcomed with open arms! Instantly I felt the love from the other YAVs and I knew that everything would be great! :)
Well the next day we went to church at Divine Redeemer (the host church...I think that is what it is called) and I loved it! It reminded me a lot about my church back home and I felt very comforted about that especially being in a new place. We then went out to eat at a fabulous restaurant called Los Angeles. After that it was basically time to take my mom to the airport so that she could get back to Melbourne in time to go to work the next day!
After my mom left that's when I really began to get to know my other housemates! It took about um...I think like a week or so to really start feeling super comfortable in the house to really be myself! I started connecting to the girls and really getting to know them. All my worries about fitting in and being included went away.
When I first got here I was super nervous but excited about being here and now I love it here and I am so glad I was able to join the other YAVs here! Today I was even given a lesson in our house car, Lupita, who is a manuel and who I have no idea how to drive (well before this wonderful lesson by Kelsey!) I only stalled about um 5 times I think which I think was pretty darn good! :)
Tonight I am giving you an abridged version of how everything is going so far and hopefully tomorrow I may write a longer version and give more details, but seeing that it is past my bed time I must stop writing and go to bed! Good night friends! :)
