Well...the wait is finally over! I have now been back in the states for just about a month now. I have definitely had my share of culture shock, but I think I have been doing well since I have been back in the states. For the most part I have been feeling really bored since I did not have a lot to do and since most things here in Florida cost money...which my money supply was depleting very fast since everything is so much more expensive here then in Kenya!!
Well instead of rambling I will go ahead and tell you that...well I am going to be going to this place called...um let me see San Antonio!!! I am so excited about this new direction in my life and my YAV year! I am really excited about the community living and getting to know the YAVs that are already there. I will be working at the Guadalupe Community Center with the after school program and any thing else that they need help with! I am really excited that I will be able to work with kids and from what it sounds like I will be teaching!! :) So on Friday, yup this Friday like in 2 days, I will be on my way to San Antonio, Texas via driving with mi madre! (I have to start practicing my Espanol!) Our journey will start in Port St. Lucie Florida where my mom works around 4pm on Friday and we will drive as far as we can get and then we will stop probably around Pensacola and stay the night. Then the next day we will drive the rest of the way and make it to San Antonio around 7pm central time. Its going to be a great adventure with my mom and I cannot wait till I get there and meet my fellow YAVs and get to know the community surrounding the house!
Well I think that is all I wanted to tell everyone now. I will post another blog after I have arrived in San Antonio to let everyone know how everything is going!! Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers through this journey that I have been on! :)
Hasta Luego!
I'm so excited for you! Have a great time in Texas!!
ReplyDeleteTEXAS!!!!!!! :D I am so glad you are in San Antonio! It is an amazing city. I loved going to school there! ENJOY IT! (Also, if I go home at all during the rest of the YAV year I will drive down to see y'all!)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you're doing a lot better now. I'm glad. :)
